This Tutorial will show you how to publish your web via HTTP in FrontPage. If your web host has installed FrontPage Extensions on the server for you, you will need to publish your site via HTTP. Do not attempt to upload via FTP. This method will most likely corrupt the extensions, which will then have to be uninstalled and re-installed. Let's go ahead now and open a web that we wish to publish to the server. Locate the web files on your local computer. Great! Now that the web is open, let's see how to publish the files. Enter http://yoursite.com. If your DNS has not fully propogated yet, enter http://123.12.123.12 where 123.12.123.12 is the IP address provide by your web host in the Welcome email. Note: If you are using the Plesk Control Panel, enter http://www.yoursite.com (include the WWW). Enter the username and password provide by your web host in the Welcome email. Note: For Ensim control panel users, enter username@yoursite.com instead of username. For convenience, you may save your password to your system memory so that you don't have to re-enter it in future sessions. So far so Good! We can see the location to which wee will be publishing our files. If you have more than one web set up in FrontPage, you may switch to that location whenever you wish. You will find all your local files in the left panel and the remote files in the right panel. Depending on which control panel your web host uses, your remote files will reside in a specific directory. For example, if you are using cPanel, your files would be in public_html. If using Plesk, the files would be in httpdocs. Your welcome email should tell you where your remote files need to go. To upload an individual file, simply drag it from the left panel into the right panel. You can see that the file has been successfully uploaded (published). If you have created subwebs in your site, you should include them when publishing. You should also set your options. If this is the first time publishing your site, you will want to publish All Pages. For future uploads, you can change this option to publish changed pages only. OK, I think we're ready. To publish all files, simply click on Publish. All local files will be uploaded to the server. You will receive confirmation that all files have been successfully uploaded. If the log files are turned on in Options, you may see a detailed report of the publishing session. Congratulations! You have successfully published your site (web) to your server. Wasn't that difficult, was it?
